'Sion, capital city of Valais is a small town with 30,000 inhabitants. Despite its size, the art scene is very prolific. Artists, museums, galleries, auctions, monuments, studios and residencies, all the institutions are in place. Add to that the mountains, soccer clubs, wine makers, banks, politicians and superstars and you’ll get a very original artstic scenery.
The aim of this book is to show how such a place works, with influences systems, networking, alliances, sponsorship, cronyism and so on…
Whereas the past 4 years have given me all the tools to realise a coherent book graphic design-wise, this work also allies serious research with a strong content which, to me, was still something to achieve.
Having spent the first 20 years of my life in Sion, with an artist mother and an architect father, I allow myself a sometimes acid, sometimes fun commentary on a small but very proud art scene.'
