Gabriel Hafner, who graduated from ECAL in 2022, won the prestigious Tectona Prize at the latest Design Parade in Hyères. This international prize celebrates innovation in garden furniture.

The ten finalists were asked to design an outdoor table around the theme of ‘a summer meal’. The only constraint was to use metal or a natural rot-proof material. Gabriel Hafner stood out with a table inspired by beach mats, consisting of a wooden base and a woven mat of wood and textile. The rigid yet flexible top is reminiscent of a sun blind and can be transformed into a table with a simple gesture. Easily dismantled, this design combines practicality and aesthetics, in perfect harmony with the convivial spirit of outdoor dining.

His creation, combining functionality and simplicity, was exhibited at the Villa Noailles alongside the nine other finalist projects from 27 June to 1 September 2024.
