On the occasion of the 7th Rencontres 7e Art Lausanne, the ECAL welcomes French filmmaker Rebecca Zlotowski for a masterclass on Monday March 11, 2024.
Rebecca Zlotowski is a French director and screenwriter. Graduated of the Ecole Normale Supérieure with an agrégation in modern literature, she was destined to become a teacher before joining the screenwriting department of the Fémis, where she made some decisive encounters: Lodge Kerrigan, Teddy Lussi-Modeste and Philippe Grandrieux, with whom she collaborates.
In 2010, her first feature film Belle Épine was selected for Critics' Week in Cannes, won the Louis Delluc prize for Best First Film, and earned Léa Seydoux a César nomination for Best Emerging Actress. Her next films, Grand Central, Planetarium, Une fille facile and more recently Les enfants des autres, put her at the forefront of French cinema, with nominations, awards and public recognition.
In 2019, she will direct the TV series Les Sauvages, co-created with author Sabri Louatah. Rebecca Zlotowski also writes for other directors, including Géraldine Nakache or Robin Campillo.
