L'Appartement – Espace Images Vevey

The Images Vevey x ECAL Prize was created in 2021 and strengthens the collaboration between the two institutions. Its aim is to offer a first exhibition experience to a student graduating from the ECAL's Bachelor's or Master's degree in photography. The winning work is presented in the form of a monographic exhibition by Images Vevey on the occasion of its biennial or in its permanent space.

In the rooms of L'Appartement, Sara De Brito Faustino , ECAL Bachelor Photography Graduate, presents A Home with No Roof, her award-winning Diploma project for the Prix Images Vevey x ECAL 2023.

A Home with No Roof is a series of photographs in which the photographer evokes the dysfunctional home of her childhood. Using models and self-portraits, she recomposes the interior of her home, imbued with often painful memories. The project plays on the familiarity and strangeness of the ordinary. Through an immersive installation, each piece extends the essence of the images, blending scales and textures to blur the boundary between reality and its reproduction. The project reveals the artist's vulnerability and power of emancipation through the plastic and playful potential of photography.
