Lausanne and sport have a long shared history. In 1915, Baron Pierre de Coubertin chose to set up the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne. Since then, over 50 sports federations have been established in the city. In 1994, Lausanne was given the title of Olympic Capital.

Elite athletes
At ECAL, we support students who wish to split their time between sport and academia. We offer adjustments to study plans that are specific to each student’s needs, so that elite athletes can continue to pursue their careers in sport. If you wish to acquire elite athlete status, please contact the Administration department at the start of the academic year.
