Students’ Office

The students' office (in french, Bureau Des Étudiant.e.x.s, BDE) is a structure within the school that relies entirely on the students. It is a meeting point between the students, the associations and the management. It is independent from the school and tries to represent the students to the management. The association is elected every year by the students at the General Meeting (in french : Assemblée Générale, AG). The purpose of the students' office is to be a platform for its members, its activities are meant to meet their needs, expectations and represent them. The members to become subscribe to the students' office by the symbolic participation of chf 1.-, in order to constitute the association. 

• Improving communication/contacts between students, associations, assistants, teachers and management. Offering support to project to be organized or created by people from the school with a budget or any other help, be open to their proposals and be their voice.
• Open space for discussions. It can be so by creating working groups that are free to create projects, have discussions and roundtables about a matter that are relative to the working group. These groups can be related and managed by the BDE. They are opened to any students, assistants, staff and teachers within the school, aiming to fight against. discriminations of all kind within the school.
• Make the school live outside of classes by organizing events and making the life on campus as enjoyable as possible. It can launch its own event such as call on associations, guest speakers for conferences, not only related to art or design but on various topics.
• Offer a form of protection to the student body.

The BDE has a mail address (bde@ecal.ch ) that is open to all matters. It has a budget that is managed by the tresorire of the BD, and is renewed every year. This budget is not illimited and should be used wisely. The BDE can also have a contact with the students syndicat (sudto protect the students if needed. The BDE has the possibility to book rooms and to organise events at ECAL.
