and research project "Phantom Power", 04.06.2021 and research project "Phantom Power"
04.06.2021 is a new website that documents research on sound and listening carried out within the Bachelor Fine Arts programme at ECAL.

It gives access to materials produced during various events/experiments and will be gradually completed by textual material. The site is also designed as an archive in which materials from workshops dating from 2012 and contemporary research are inextricably linked.

As part of this platform, the "Phantom Power" research project, which was launched in 2021, is especially highlighted. This project questions the social configurations of aural practices in the context of performances and sound installations. Through the collective study of three public events (the first of which had to be held behind closed doors), the project seeks to account for the ways in which artists and audiences make each other think and agree or disagree on meanings.

The website will also present for the first time the original performances by Leif Elggren and Marja-Leena Sillanpää, as well as the discussions that followed between students and philosopher Vinciane Despret on 29 April. It will also feature these same performances performed by students on 30 April in front of Elggren and Sillanpää themselves.

"Phantom Power" is supported by the Network of Expertise in Design and Visual Arts (RCDAV) of HES-SO.
