On the occasion of the D'DAYS from 20th to 25th of May 2014, Lausanne Jardins will be moving out, together with ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne and their mobile gardens.
Mobile Topiary is the result of a workshop at ECAL working with students from the B.A Industrial Design course. They have conjured up box plants, the stars of classic topiary, on wheels, with geometric shapes recalling traditional French gardens. Mobile Topiary will be the ambassadors for the event, announcing the forthcoming opening on 14 June 2014.
The Lausanne Jardins event takes place every 4 years, and its distinguishing feature is that it all takes place in the city centre. The objective of the event is to bring the world of plants face to face with the reality of the urban situation.
For each event we have run, there have been around 30 gardens, designed by architects, artists, landscaping specialists and designers, all selected through an international competition. For this, the 5th event which focuses on design, the curators Christophe Ponceau and Adrien Rovero have decided to work on the theme of gardens that fall to earth, landing, putting down roots and growing- these are the “LANDING” gardens.
