Olivia Wünsche – New State of Equilibrium

by Olivia Wünsche

New State of Equilibrium is a visual interpretation of my years-long spiritual quest and psychedelic adventures. Inner peace, a sense of deep connectedness, unbounded love for the natural world and longing for transcendence are central themes I tried to visualise throughout this project. Both the book and the installation attempt to question and investigate the mechanisms and limitations of our cognitive and sensory perception. By emphasising the simultaneous presence of the visible and the invisible, I seek to challenge the secular, materialistic worldview that still seems to prevail in our Western culture.

Anima Mundi is a transmedia platform designed to revive some of the most fundamental philosophical virtues. The project carries out both theoretical and visual research about the «Deep Ecology» movement, which promotes the development of a physical, intellectual and, above all, emotional bond with nature. Different facets of the same content evolve across three mediums:the video-collage unveils an immersive and sensory experience while the book offers a personal study of conceptual matter. Both the book and video are published on a website.

Redefine/rearrange an old socialist photography magazine. Each student had one year of the magazine, they form groups and work on several years together. The text is completly ignored. Only the Images reappear. The are used in a completly different way then before: Which means they should rearrange, cut, collage them: make something completely new, out of the given material. In the end of the workshop every student had a clip-stitched Magazine of 32 Pages. They all be bound as a book.
