Dominic Hawgood workshop

We are living in a feedback loop between digital technologies and our perception of the world, and what surrounds are multitudes of constructed realities. Light fields, 3d scanning, and photogrammetry are advancing the potential of computational realism, drawing upon scientific principles, theories and techniques prior to the advent of photography. It was Leonardo da Vinci who originally conceived of the Plenoptic Function, and Michael Faraday who theorised light to have a field. What has had to happen is for technology to catch up, and the result is the rapid metamorphosing of lens-based media, and an explosion of a new kind of realism.
