April 8 2013 : Margaret Thatcher passes away at the age of 87, reawakening a collective imagination that had slowly disappeared since the beginning of the 21st century. Juxtaposed in the systemic stream of contemporary images, a large body of images used by the press to recontextualize Thatcher provide a starting point to observe the visual strategies of the media.Thatcher is Dead is a constellation of superimposed photographs ; chance encounters obtained by a digital scanning process identical to that of positive films. Disrupting this system, the hurricanes create a parallel perspective of a new, slower reading of images. The past is neither contested nor revisited, but reactivated by its system of references.
