“I wanted to produce a fantasized movie, the fantasy of a cinema enthusiast who would like to direct his Hollywood movie. Opera Monkey is a patchwork, a collage of several film genres; the war movie, the horror movie, film noir. The movie works on a sequencing between various visual effects rather than on a scenario. This is at the same time a reflection and a parody on the Hollywood movies, which are generally built on ob- vious scenarios, the impact of which depends more and more on a higher escalation of visual effects. The poverty of the means which I used is also to be understood as a parody of American industrial cinema.“
