The Form Between Dog and Wolf

Nayoung Kim – The Form Between Dog and Wolf

This project raises the fundamental question of the relationship between what (we think) we see and what (we think) we know about the reading process and type design. By revealing ambiguous “grey areas” that lie halfway between two characters, it ironically questions what makes an “a” an “a”, a “b” a “b”, etc. Hence, a single “grey” character can be used to represent several letters at the same time, demonstrating the gradual abstraction of the letterforms and putting us in a position where we are no longer sure about what we are reading and what we know.
