Michelle Zadio Villarroel – Nativo+Latino

Nativo+Latino reinvents the heritage and syncretism of the South American continent. Long shaped by the evangelisation of the indigenous people, the consequences of this mix of identities bears witness to the cultural and religious alienation of Latinos. Gradually, awareness of the indigenous condition has pushed their descendants to honour and revive their cult.

This project is a place where Latin communities, who aim to reclaim this heritage that was until now regarded as pagan beliefs, to come together, confront one another and express themselves. Nativo takes the shape of ancestral memories and a collective imagination that reflects a reinterpretation of the practice of Catholicism in Latin America in order to restore power in a hybrid vision of identity.
