(Re-)Viewing Paik – 2025 A comparative and practice-based study on the transformative effects at play in the digital and hybrid exhibition of a body of non-digital native artworks (some artworks by artist Nam June Paik serving as a mean of understanding). This research project builds on a previous study that produced a prototype of a hybrid exhibition (physical and digital) featuring electronic artworks by Nam June Paik. The project undertakes a comparative analysis of this prototype and its online exhibition format for a selection of the artist s digitized works. It also examines the informal and fragmented online circulation of this corpus (e.g., fragments, low-quality copies, 3D scans) and its effects on the public reception of the artworks. The development of a new digital exhibition based on an adapted corpus promotes further learning and enables the open-access publication and dissemination of results, beyond academic audiences. In parallel, a critical taxonomy derived from a survey of past and current digital exhibitions (1993–present) provides a comparative framework for understanding forms, content, digitization processes, and modes of reception. Together, these insights equip curators, digital exhibition designers, and art historians with a critical understanding of the challenges of transposing exhibitions into networked digital environments.Principal investigatorPatrick KellerResearch teamFrançois Bovier Christian Babski Erika MarthinsAssistantMathilde CouéPeriod01.02.2024–31.01.2028Funded bySwiss National Science FoundationResearcherLívía Nolasco-Roszás
Design for Recycling through Automation and Robotics in Apparel Accessories and Footwear This project develops design for recycling textile-based goods, one of the most damaging waste streams, using contemporary toolsets to dismantle products into pure fractions. Recycling textile-based goods after use is extremely difficult with current methods. To improve recycling outcomes, it is essential to recover pure materials—known as fractions—from post-consumer waste. However, due to the fibrous nature of textiles, mixed materials, varied constructions, flexibility, and product diversity, achieving pure fractions is nearly impossible using existing processes. As a result, the textile industry generates vast amounts of waste and significantly harms the environment, especially through its heavy reliance on virgin resources. This project develops robotic and automated tools to dismantle post-consumer textile products into pure fractions, complete with the data and traceability needed for effective material recycling. To make this possible, design and manufacturing processes must consider the constraints of automated disassembly. The systems developed are intended for adoption by large-scale producers of textile-based goods, helping to significantly reduce environmental impact. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” The panel “Cybernetic Sustainability” explored the intersections between architecture, machine learning, art, climate data, and sustainability approaches, drawing on both historical and contemporary works. Emphasis was placed on cybernetics from an historical and analytical perspective, ephemeral algorithmic systems, and their potential interplay with vernacular approaches, framing discussions around collective intelligence and research-practice exchanges as key themes for panellists and moderation. “Cybernetic Sustainability” was hosted by Patrick Keller and Christophe Guignard, members of Fabric and professors at ECAL (HES-SO), featured Giulia Bini (head of Arts at CERN), Chrissie Muhr (Architect, Curator, Artistic Director of Experimental Foundation – Berlin), and Ashford Maxwell (Designer, Researcher at ECAL (HES-SO)). It was moderated by Gordan Savicic (Artist, Critical Engineer, Lecturer at HSLU Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts).
Mayalène de Roquemaurel – Honte excitante Exciting shame. The body split, as if divided into several pieces. The pasty thing in the mouth. It runs through my nails, my nose, my epithelial tissue. Tiny cells swarming in the belly, some empty, others full. They try to swell and escape, flowing like a stream through the limbs, awakening the stirred viscera. An endless thread that knots and unknots itself.
Abla Bolassi Owoussi – Mira Mira is an interior lamp that explores modularity through a pulley system that allows for adjusting light intensity. The lampshade, made of veneer, subtly transforms depending on the position of the mechanism, playing on both light and shape. This project reflects a need for flexibility in the domestic space and reflects a personal research on the evolving object, halfway between discreet technicality and poetic expression of the material.
Alexandre Li – Diego Sport has become a key social driver in today s society, with more and more city dwellers gathering downtown to practice together. Diego is an urban furniture concept designed to tap into this dynamic by bringing football back into the heart of the city. Designed for underused public squares and parks, this project invites people to come together and share public space through sport. With a simple tilt, Diego transforms from a bench into a football goal. Thanks to integrated wheels, it can be easily moved and rearranged to suit the users needs. A single module invites spontaneous play, while several combined form a real pitch with goals at each end and seatings for spectators on the side.
Jean-Elie Matile – JEM-3 Environmental, energy, and urban planning issues in Switzerland, as in the rest of Europe, raise questions about our modes of mobility. In this context, microcars are re-emerging as a relevant solution. JEM-3 is a single-seater electric microcar designed to meet daily transportation needs in both urban and rural areas. Covered in textile, its bodywork is as light and modular as a tent, adapting to the weather and the user s preferences. Its minimalist platform enables the design of the body and interior by actors outside the traditional automotive industry. Depending on the materials and manufacturing processes used, JEM-3 can take on multiple forms and adapt to various contexts.
Jeremy Loup – Nestwork This collection of three artificial bird nests addresses specific needs for cohabitation between birds and human environments. Each model is designed to be functional, accessible, and easy to reproduce. The tit nest supports natural regulation of pine processionary caterpillars. The grebe nest offers a floating structure for ports, preventing the birds from settling on boats. For common swifts, the nest is designed to be mounted on balconies, significantly reducing the high costs of traditional installations. All three nests follow the same construction logic : a cork shell for thermal and acoustic insulation, combined with Paulownia panels, a durable and weather-resistant wood. Their simplicity allows for production and assembly within sheltered workshops.
Julie Tena – Velum Velum is a pendant lamp designed to modulate light above a table, offering dual functions : soft, diffuse illumination or direct, precise lighting. Its sliding textile, gently undulating, creates volumes and shades that influence the room s atmosphere. Intended for spaces where boundaries between work, meals, and relaxation blur, Velum allows users to adapt light to their needs and moments, supporting the fluctuating rhythms of daily life.
Toscane Jourde – Enveloppe – 2025 Enveloppe is an extendable table whose transformation affects its size, shape, and materiality. When closed, it serves everyday needs: a rectangular laminate table for four. When opened, it becomes a diamond-shaped oak table for eight to ten guests. This project extends a reflection developed in the designer s thesis on the notion of the collective — both as a value embedded in daily life and as a condition for creation. Enveloppe also explores spatial economy and the way furniture can influence human (social) interactions.
Oriana Gonzalez Fernandez – Enveloppe – 2025 #2 Today, cafés have become popular workspaces — but this shift brings challenges. Customers often occupy tables for extended periods, and most venues lack accessible charging ports. While some cafés have introduced 60-minute limits on laptop use, these rules are difficult to enforce. Elio offers a solution : a compact device offered by the café that tracks time with a ring of LED lights and provides a USB-C port for charging laptops and mobile devices, functioning as a portable battery. Its smooth, rounded form is tactile and stackable on a shared charging base. Managed through an app, Elio allows cafés to customize usage settings, offering a balance between customer comfort and efficient space management.
Camila Polania – Instructions of Rematriation Some say the body arrives first, and the soul takes longer. This installation begins with that delay, in the tension between presence and absence. Instructions of Rematriation is a video installation projected onto a wind-moved fabric, a surface that never fully settles. In front, white Rimax chairs evoke everyday spaces of waiting across Latin America: porches, patios, sidewalks. The work follows the passing of a single day, tracing the slow return to the body after displacement. Through video, writing, textile, and sound, the installation holds a kind of return, not geopolitical, but personal and ancestral: a political and spiritual reconnection with what was once left behind.
James Caruso – The Catalog Collection The Catalog Collection explores the potential of designing furniture and home goods exclusively from standardized components in the McMaster-Carr catalog, bypassing much of the traditional manufacturing process. Using Fusion 360 s McMaster-Carr plugin, its extensive 3D library enables rapid experimentation with precise, digital parts—bringing new immediacy and efficiency to the concept of ready-mades. By eliminating the need for custom tooling and minimizing physical prototyping, the process reduces waste, streamlines workflows, and asks: What becomes possible when we stop designing from scratch and start designing from what already exists?
Natsumi Komoto – Baya Baya is a lounge chair inspired by animal nests. Starting with the question “Why do humans need to create?”, I explored instinctive structures built by animals—nests where function and form merge, offering a pure model of creation beyond culture and ornament. Baya s CNC-bent stainless steel frame is imagined as branches, hand-wrapped with leather strips to form a personal nest that blends industrial precision with primal gesture. Leather, used since ancient times, softens metal s rigidity and symbolizes the deep bond between nature and humans. Its enveloping form welcomes varied postures and moments of reflection, while the reconfigurable design fosters long-term care over short use. Baya quietly asks what sustainability means—physically, emotionally, and philosophically.
Patrick Storey – Design For Rest Design For Rest is a speculative research project exploring how design can prompt and ritualise rest in an age of constant digital engagement. Through design, writing and experimentation, it questions how we might reframe rest not as recovery, but as an intentional act. It proposes three outputs: Glasses for the Night, red-lens eyewear crafted from 0.5mm stainless steel; Interval, a poetic device using chromatography to signal rest intervals; and Phase, a prompting switch that disconnects Wi-Fi, reshaping night-time routines. Together, they form a system of tools to help reclaim attention, presence, and sleep.
Sebastian Renga – Materia Futura Materia Futura reflects on the relationship between ancient forms and new technologies. The chair draws from primitive structures shaped by time, need, and clarity. This project was developed with Econit, a cellulose-based composite used in theater sets for its strength, lightness, and texture. This material enabled to reinterpret an archaic shape through digital modeling and manual refinement. The geometry feels instinctive but is carefully designed. This is not about nostalgia, but about how traditional forms can evolve through contemporary tools, and how material choices embody meaning in a time of overproduction.
Yang Yao Chun – Lumireact This series of lamps explores how tangible interactions can make everyday actions, such as turning on the lights, more meaningful and playful. When the user gently rotates the lampshade, the light gradually illuminates, subtly transforming the space s atmosphere. By introducing an engaging, physical gesture to activate the lamp, the act of lighting becomes less mechanical and more ceremonial. The bedside lamp invites a quiet interaction before sleep. As the user slowly rotates the spherical lampshade, the light gradually emerges, creating a calming ritual that helps the user unwind. The wall lamp, meanwhile, responds to presence, a simple interaction activates a warm glow, turning a daily transition into a mindful encounter.
Elisa Azevedo – Daydream Daydream is an intimate exploration of sexuality, embodiment, and the search for connection in a world increasingly shaped by performance and consumption. The photographic series began with an investigation of highly sexualized spaces — environments where the body often appears fragmented, mediated, and as a representation. Present, yet absent, lingering only as a trace of desire. By reenacting some of these gestures herself, the photographer embodies a role and expectation that she cannot naturally fulfill. This performative process reveals the dissonance between imposed ideals and personal reality. Through photography, feelings of loneliness, inadequacy, and vulnerability are confronted — but also curiosity, longing, and the wish for a more sincere relation to her own body and her own sense of intimacy.
Nabarun Gogoi – The Swan In this short film, the photographer used a CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) avatar to address and question contemporary notions of masculinity and the complex relationship it shares with love. Inspired by the photographer s own apprehensions related to connecting with other men, the short film uncovers the subtle yet forceful indoctrination of masculine perceptions of power and control. These perceptions clash vehemently with the vulnerability that comes with loving another and the emotions it evokes, thus condemning men to an internal prison of shame and self-betrayal. Created using a gaming engine, the film aims to confront this dilemma and hints at the need to adopt a more nuanced version of masculinity - one where the self is no longer compromised to cater to the insecurities of the many.
Quentin Kohler – EnhancedCrops “At EnhancedCrops, we aim to create the apple of the future. Thanks to our exclusive technology, which promises to revolutionize the future of agriculture, we are about to develop an apple tree capable of surviving the hottest heatwave as well as the latest spring frost. No matter what parasite clings to it, our Tungsten apple tree will always resist. And that s not even counting that it will produce the perfect apple, available year-round. Humanity is accelerating climate change? It doesn t matter! We have the solution. It s up to us to help it surpass itself. At EnhancedCrops, we ve made it our mission. Join us, and let s cultivate a sweeter, ever more fruitful world together.” A story of a failure foretold.
ECAL × NNORMAL In September 2024, the start of the academic year at ECAL / University of Art and Design Lausanne, was highlighted by the beginning of our collaboration with trail equipment manufacturer Nnormal. At the same time, not far from our university, Kilian Jornet, the founder of the brand, gave our teams a taste for exploits by linking 82 peaks in the Alps over 4,000 meters high, shattering all records in the process. In trail running, as in photography, you need passion, discipline and endurance. Our Bachelor Photography students at ECAL are not all great sportsmen and women, but they are driven by the desire to achieve visual exploits. Trained in technical mastery, conceptual development and risk-taking, they spent three years in a field of exploration that allows them to seek out limits and chart their path. It s essential for them to get off the beaten track and find a visual language that sets them apart from the vast quantity of images that overwhelm us. ECAL has a long tradition of collaborating with top-level brands and professionals who, in addition to their own activities, wish to pass on their skills and experience to a passionate young generation looking for guidance in unfamiliar territory. Among them is Régis Tosetti, artistic director of Nnormal, who has a strong link with ECAL, where he trained for a degree in Visual Communication in 2005. Régis kicked off this collaboration with head coach Nicolas Poillot, also an art director. Nicolas forged his raw and elegant style by taking fashion towards the documentary. A guest lecturer at ECAL for several years, he has guided students tirelessly, with pragmatism and rigor, through the mapping of the brand and its visual expression. In a polluted, noisy world, saturated with superimposed stimuli, it is difficult to concentrate, to focus on a clear objective, a goal to look forward to. The opportunity offered by the collaboration between ECAL and Nnormal has encouraged a young generation of photographers to turn to the mountains. Nature is a terrain of escape, communion and adventure for an essential imagination made up of bodies and landscape. The main subject is the mediating element between these two components, the shoes that allow us to go further in this union. But there s much more than shoes in the work of Nicolas and his students: there are values of ecology, dry and wet atmospheres, solar and nocturnal lights, technical and organic textures, muscles and tense faces that achieve deliverance through their exploits. And finally, in trail running as in photography, despite sood technical and mental preparation and systematic study of the forecasts, there are unforeseen circumstances that force us to come up with improvised solutions that reveal new forms of beauty.

ECAL × OFFECCT AT Designer s Saturday,12–14.09.2025,Oslo ECAL is taking part in Designer s Saturday in Oslo with the project Sound & Vision, created in collaboration with Swedish brand Offecct. As the modern workspace and living environment trend towards open-plan designs, the need for versatile acoustic solutions have regained momentum. Offecct has teamed up with students part of Master Product Design from ECAL, led by course tutor Camille Blin, to reinterpret the acoustic room divider, an essential tool in structuring both our spaces and our ideas. Acoustics have been a steady part of Offecct s portfolio since the early 2000s, and it is time for this category to question its own versatility and its influence on the well-being of our workplaces. These projects do more than divide space: they reinterpret familiar gestures, reveal the poetry of modest materials, and offer sensitive responses to the needs of the contemporary office. Together, they form a landscape of objects that are both technical and adaptable, where every separation becomes an opportunity for expression, comfort, and reinvention of the workplace.VENUEAmbassaden Henrik Ibsens gate 48, via Løkkeveien/Hansteens gtDATES & SCHEDULEFrom 12 to 14 September 2025HEAD OF PROGRAMMEWEBSITEdesignerssaturday.noSTUDENTS, , , , , , , ASSISTANTOPENINGOffecct x ECAL: Research in Design , Head of Master Product Design Saturday at 10:30am Flokk, Drammensveien 145PARTNERSFLOKK DESIGN Marianne Sælid, Vice President, Design Managment Oscar Shu Hao Kwong, Designer, Design Managment Special Thanks To: Christian Lodgaard OFFECCT Magdalena Borowiec, Brand Manager Øystein Austad, Design Manager offecct.flokk.com

Documentary film workshop with Alessandro Comodin – 2025 The 2025 documentary film workshop for 2nd year students was lead by french italian director Alessandro Comodin. Head of workshop: "This year, there s been a lot of talk about pebbles on tiles and eggs dangerously stuffed into jeans pockets. The pebbles, I confess, were me, Alessandro Comodin, a forty-something Italian director, who had thrown them at the windows of my new apprentice filmmakers. It was my mission, or so I interpreted it. Yes, I was the one who threw those pebbles, because I ve always enjoyed being disturbed by a friend who might have dropped by unexpectedly, because he or she didn t know what better to do than to come to my house. So, as so often with the gifts we give, it s the ones we d like to receive, I took the liberty of getting young people off their sofas and into the dark and magical world of documentaries. Or that they might simply open the windows without fear. The eggs, on the other hand, were the students projects. The image of the egg may be banal, but it s been a nutritional staple since long before the happy experience of Noah s Ark, and not to displease vegans or allergy sufferers, because eggs were never to be eaten or broken, just put in your pocket and kept there. A highly perilous exercise, but you can t be a filmmaker s apprentice without an acute awareness of the passage of time and the fragility of appearances. Let me conclude with a quote from Julio Cortazar. In 1980, he was invited to give a series of lectures to students at Berkeley. At one point he said that an idea is like a bird that sneaks in through the window; you never know when it s going to fly in, and it s not easy to catch it. I would add that you still need to have your windows open. We ve learned that this year, that it s really nice to open your windows a little bit every day, even at night, because a bird might come in or a friend might throw a pebble in, and you never know when that pebble might turn into an egg." ECAL × OFFECCT AT 3 days of design,18–20.06.2025,Copenhagen ECAL is taking part in the 2025 edition of 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen with the project Sound & Vision, created in collaboration with Swedish brand Offecct. Together, they form a landscape of objects that are both technical and adaptable, where every separation becomes an opportunity for expression, comfort, and reinvention of the workplace.VENUEAmbassaden Henrik Ibsens gate 48, via Løkkeveien/Hansteens gtDATES & SCHEDULEFrom 18 to 20 June 2025HEAD OF PROGRAMMEWEBSITE3daysofdesign.dkSTUDENTS, , , , , , , ASSISTANTOPENING18 June at 4pmPARTNERSFLOKK DESIGN Marianne Sælid, Vice President, Design Managment Oscar Shu Hao Kwong, Designer, Design Managment Special Thanks To: Christian Lodgaard OFFECCT Magdalena Borowiec, Brand Manager Øystein Austad, Design Manager offecct.flokk.com

Realtime Narratives – 2025 During the Realtime Narratives course, second-year students had to create a real-time narrative experience using Unreal Engine software. The aim of the project was to raise students awareness of the use of 3D realtime engines and the various links with other software specific to each stage of development. Overload This project explores how the environment and pressures of modern office life seep into the subconscious of an ordinary person. During a dream in a dark and stormy forest, the player is confronted with a landscape imbued with palpable tension, where oversized office objects illustrate the weight and omnipresence of the professional world. These strange visions represent the transformation of the banal into oppressive figures within mental space. The dreamlike journey leads to a cavern housing a human-sized office, marking a tipping point where the chaos outside calms down before the character s abrupt awakening. By Our Badgers Climb Starting a journey isn t simple. Sometimes you need a little push from someone you trust — or maybe it s a stranger who helps you chase your goals. In this minigame, that idea comes to life. You play as a young badger. A badger that feels bored and restless while visiting his grandparents. When his grandfather suggests he set out on an adventure, the little badger is unsure and hesitant. But with the encouragement and support of those he meets along the way, he begins to create memories he ll treasure forever. This story is about perseverance, believing in what you can achieve, and remembering you re never alone — there s always someone out there who can help you find your way. Plunged into the heart of a robot family, the player can explore the house and interact with its members. But to evolve and discover the world, they must leave their family cocoon. Each time out, the player is faced with a challenge symbolizing a stage in life. Once they ve overcome the challenge, they can choose to return home. However, time does not flow in the same way inside and outside. Each time he returns, the house has changed, marked by the effects of time, just like his family. By
WHERE DID THE BATS GO?,16.05.2025,Cinéma Bellevaux Pipistrelles, Serotines, and Bachelor Fine Arts students gather at Cinéma Bellevaux for an evening of performances, screenings, and sounds emerging from the invisible. In recent spring weeks, first year Bachelor Fine Arts students and cryptic bats, be they bicolored vesper bats, serotines, pipistrelles, or noctules (though undeniably communicating across two main frequency ranges: some between 40,000–50,000 Hz and others between 50,000–60,000 Hz), have been fabulously trying to establish audible contact, to hear one another, to understand each other, without ever attempting to possess. After several missed encounters, this hybrid collective invites all species to an open evening centered around the political and metaphorical question that has haunted them. Hibernation and/or escape, apathy and/or cigarette smoke, lack of interest and/or lack of water: multiple hypotheses will be raised, presented through performances, concerts, and screenings. We hope to see you and perhaps hear, together, a response emerging from torpor, or in response to it.DATES & SCHEDULEFriday May 16, 2025 7pm – Doors open 8pm – Performances Free entryVENUECinéma Bellevaux Rte Aloys-Fauquez 4 CH-1018 LausanneWEBSITEcinemabellevaux.ch

Designed in CH Made in JP Designed in CH, Made in JP is a collaborative project between ECAL Master Product Design, Karimoku New Standard, and Presence Switzerland. From 13 April to 13 October 2025, representatives from countries across the globe will gather to showcase innovation, culture, and sustainability at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan. For Switzerland s pavilion, MA Product Design students at ECAL were tasked with designing a stackable wooden chair to be produced in Japan by Karimoku New Standard, intended to furnish the lightweight, bubble-inspired architecture by Manuel Herz. Under the guidance of Augustin Scott de Martinville, the class developed ten chair designs, each offering a distinct perspective. Some draw inspiration from the pavilion s scenography, while others explore cultural iconography or celebrate the symbiosis between two nations—each unique in heritage yet united by shared values of craftsmanship and innovation. Of the ten designs, one was selected to be produced for the pavilion: HUG, designed by Jacob Kouthoofd Martensson and Min Xiyao, is a circular chair that stacks inversely—a feature that not only informs its name but also visually embodies the essence of collaboration. This versatile design accommodates a range of uses, from conferences to general pavilion seating. The final chair will be unveiled both in Osaka in the Swiss Pavilion at the World Expo 2025, and during Milan Design Week 2025, with the full project exhibited at the House of Switzerland. Swiss Film Award : two ECAL film graduates honoured Klaudia Reynicke and Mégane Brügger win the ‘Best Feature Film and ‘Best Graduation Film awards respectively. At the 2025 Swiss Film Awards ceremony held on 21 March at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva, two ECAL graduates in Film were awarded major prizes. Congratulations to them! , who graduated from the ECAL/HEAD Master in Film in 2010 and is a lecturer on the ECAL Master in Film, won the ‘Best Feature Film award for her film Reinas. In 1992, while Peru was in the grip of political unrest, Lucia and Aurora were preparing to leave their country with their mother for a better life in America. But to leave, they needed their father to sign the consent papers. Carlos, who had practically disappeared from their lives, now decided to fight to get his two ‘queens back. @klaudiareynicke , who graduated with a Bachelor s degree in Film from ECAL in 2024, won the ‘Best Graduation Film award for her short film Maman danse. What is left of a mother after years of domestic violence? What is left of her body, her dignity and her strength? Surely words, memory and a few dance steps that are still passed on. @meganebrugger
Fiction film workshop with Klaudia Reynicke The 2024 fiction film workshop for 2nd year students was lead by swiss and peruvian director Klaudia Reynicke. Head of workshop: "The aim of the second-year BA fiction workshop 2024-2025 was to write and direct short films on a very limited budget and to a very tight deadline. As head of this workshop, I chose to push these constraints to make it a real learning tool for the students. We took our inspiration from the principles of Dogma 95, while imposing a theme: ‘birth . The idea was to get the students to concentrate fully on the essence of filmmaking, to tell stories in the most raw and sincere way possible, without relying on devices often considered indispensable. This approach allowed them to explore storytelling and directing in a new way. Most of them played along. I ended up relaxing some of the rules of Dogme 95, which may seem contradictory. But this strict framework, which wasn t very sexy for many at first, served as a starting point, giving them a basis and constraints for experimenting, testing and researching. Then the projects took over. Everyone found their own urgency, their own rules. So we left Dogme 95 behind and concentrated on the films themselves. Films that are unique, sincere, sometimes raw, often powerful and as rich as they are profound, in all their splendour." Visual Identity BA3 S1 2024-2025 Through the prism of visual identity, this project addresses issues of graphic language and artistic direction. Each stage of the project examines an aspect of the development of a visual identity: research, concept, visual language, design and communication. RADIONModular visual identity designed for the RADION club in Amsterdam. Designed to be both recognisable and impactful, it adapts to all formats and uses in order to meet the needs of a nightclub in a highly competitive environment. HS UHT USTThis project explores a potential overhaul of the Swiss Shooting Federation s visual identity in order to place it in a more contemporary and rigorous context. By moving away from the traditional clichés associated with shooting sports, this new identity aims to reposition the federation by emphasising excellence, precision and modernity in order to appeal to a new audience. La jetée In 1962, French filmmaker Chris Marker released La Jetée. It was an experimental film made up of hundreds of 35 mm black and white shots. It tells the story of a journey through time in a distorted post-apocalyptic Paris. The visual identity is based on an original typography designed to pay homage to Marker s raw material and its French context, and transcribes the idea of sequencing and light projection. It evolves through a teaser for a screening of La Jetée and a booklet containing the entire film script. ICONOHow do you talk to images? Should exhibition images be shown or not? Collages, appropriationists, the whole world up to the present day, a constellation of images... Since the beginning of the 20th century, iconographic artists have been appropriating images produced on an industrial scale. The images of these same artists form the name of the fictitious exhibition ICONO. By re-appropriating them, identity uses their codes to communicate. ApneaNumbers are omnipresent in the world of freediving, whether measuring depth or the duration of an immersion. This visual identity is based on a variable typography with two axes, each representing one of these parameters. Duration is illustrated by the change in the fat of the counter-forms, symbolising how full the diver s lungs are. Depth is represented by the thickness of the contours, evoking the gradation of colours that darken with immersion. The animation of these variables creates a breathing effect, echoing the rhythm of apnea. Orpheum TheaterNow abandoned, the Orpheum Theater in New Bedford, USA, had its heyday at the beginning of the XXᵉ century. To illustrate its transition from 6ᵉ to 7ᵉ art, the identity of this film library traces the three major periods that marked this venue. It combines neoclassical ornamentation, as reinterpreted in the Art Deco era, with a typographic structure inspired by flyers from the golden age of theatre. The whole is geometrically

Dissapearing Bodies – 2025 Dissapearing Bodies invites you to think around the question of the disappearance of the body in today s world, which is increasingly virtualised and disconnected from physical reality, and in which more and more activities are delegated to machines. The augmented body, virtual reality, 3D, social networks - these are just some of the tools available to us through our new devices, smart phones and others, which are revolutionising our relationship with our bodies. Controlling, optimising and managing our physical activity, our sleep, our diet, our bodies that are slipping away from us.
Applied Photography – 2025 ZOOM IN ZOOM OUT This course, both practical and technical, required students to develop a true photographer s eye. Its goal was to introduce them to or help them refine their skills in various photographic genres, such as still life, portraiture, architecture, as well as documentary and staged photography. These disciplines demanded particular attention and great rigor in selecting models, locations, and objects. Mastery of composition, framing, and light management—whether natural or artificial—was essential for achieving successful shots. Throughout the course, students were encouraged to sharpen their sense of observation and their ability to create images that were both precise and expressive.
Foundation year s Workshop – 2025 Film Option Christophe M. Saber This workshop aims to give young filmmakers the tools they need to obtain more precise and nuanced performances from their actors. Directing actors, the very heart of a film s success, will be explored from a number of angles: how to make relevant casting choices, work on the rhythm and dynamics of a scene, and communicate effectively with actors to translate an artistic vision into a convincing performance. Media & Interaction design option Floating Point Studio Introduction to 3D through a week-long workshop on the theme of CGI still lifes, designed to familiarise students with this medium. Photography Option Sabina Bösch Free photographic work on the body or bodies from different angles: The body as a physical entity and as a functional system, The body in digital space, Touch as interaction and its dimensions, The body as material and medium, The space of the body and its symbolic significance, Societal significance and the construction of the body. Graphic Design Option Eilean Friis-Lund Based on an unchanging timetable, this workshop provides an introduction to risography and explores a number of technical principles (screen, resolution, file preparation). Visual Arts Option Chloé Delarue In a world saturated with images and simulations, where the real and the virtual are intertwined, Chloé Delarue s aim is to create a world where the real and the virtual are intertwined.
