Mundaka is a family of fonts inspired by the expressive and vernacular forms of Basque fonts. Originating from a pre-Antiquity language that remains the last living isolate and the oldest language in Western Europe, Basque typography embodies the local identity. Halfway between regionalism and global openness, Mundaka questions the notion of heritage and its cultural propagation in a globalised era.
I found it very motivating to work in this cultural context and to get to grips with these specific fonts; this experience has given me ideas for the future.
