Know-how: Architecture, Fiction, Editorial

This research is based on a conceptual analysis of duplitecture, a recent architectural movement that replicates and relocates famous buildings. This analytical treatment takes place in a fixed medium, i.e. a book, a lasting object that has the power to cross the ages like a building and that comes to life through its materiality. The project reconstructs the process of a duplitect; thanks to the proximity of today’s media, everything is within reach and distance disappears.

Lara Zettl – Future Fossils

Future Fossils recounts the discovery of the first human-made fossil and illustrates the pathway to its origin in five chapters. Between a scientific report and a travel journal, this project shows human beings’ effect on planet Earth by contextualising their social, geopolitical, and economic dimensions. Abandoned shores, shifting oceans and overloaded landfills reflect the environmentally damaging colonial legacy of a specific material, i.e., plastic. This project tells the global stories of these fossilised artefacts, which bear witness to human beings’ excessive material culture and to the rivalry between the living and built realms.

The workshop week 4x5 is both an introduction to the 4x5 technical camera and a way to kickstart a photographic project. Students experience the process of analog shooting, from development to large format inkjet printing. This intense week is highly technical, but also focused on developing a photographic language, allowing for a better understanding of the fundamental workings of photography.

Staged Photography

SCREENPLAY This course introduces students to the creation of a seven-image series built around the theme Screenplay. They will learn to combine set design, characters, and lighting to produce strong, coherent staged images. Through a practical and technical approach, the course develops their ability to conceive and manage a complete photographic project, direct models, work with natural and artificial light, and collaborate under conditions similar to professional editorial or commercial shoots. Students will refine their photographic vision while preparing for the creative and technical demands of the industry.
