Visite de Courtoisie — Vol. 1

Hugo Hectus – Visite de Courtoisie — Vol. 1

Prix BCV | Visite de Courtoisie – Vol 1 is a 280-page art critical journal that recounts an 8-hour dinner performance on contemporary art that I organised at the Arsenic theatre (Lausanne, CH) with artists, curators, art historians and theatre programmers.

Tableware, Scenography, Editorial

For this first volume, VdC reflects on the models of ethical efficiency of the artwork as well as on curatorial dynamics, questioning the place of aesthetic experience in political art. Divided, like the dinner, into six acts announced by the broadcasting of audio excerpts and changes of light, the journal sets the transcript of the conversation against the guests’ feedback, enhanced by personal remarks, articles and critical essays that I collected.

Marjolaine Rey – Ici prochainement votre appartement

with Aurèle Sack, Diego Bontognali

Ici Prochainement Votre Appartement is the transition from private property to public space. On the eve of moving out of the family home, but especially in view of its imminent demolition, I have placed La Maison (The House) in a brand-new space, i.e. a book. This book, more than a personal monologue, is an invitation to enter through text and image. From the gate to the garden to the door, all the way to the attic, where the library lies. Iconography drawn from this library has an impact on the layout of the entire volume. The space of the book is my playground. The quarto format conceals half of the content between the pages. It is up to the readers to decide whether or not they want to enter each room of La Maison when they visit. Welcome to my home, soon to be yours…

Genius Loci - Spirit of the place

with Nicole Udry

Genius Loci, or the spirit of the place, refers to the unique identity or essence of a location. In architecture, this principle suggests that the specific characteristics of a place should be reflected and extended in a design. In the case of the second-year graphic design students, they have applied this principle to communication projects focused on promoting or extending the identity of a particular place through design. Their work likely explores how to visually capture and communicate the essence of a space, using graphic design elements that resonate with the architectural features or history of the place.

ECAL LOCAL

with Christophe Guberan

In collaboration with a local craftsman, the students designed a reusable packaging solution suitable for production in a little series. The project aimed to enhance the value of an everyday food product while addressing current challenges related to transport, sustainability, and the second life of packaging. The intervention had to be simple, functional, and eco-friendly, offering a purpose beyond its original packaging function.

Visual Identity BA1S2 – Collector

with Adeline Mollard

During the visual identity course with Adeline Mollard, the students had to develop an identity project promoting a collection chosen by them. Each project includes the design of a catalogue contextualising and presenting the collection, together with the design of a poster.
