Mégane Brügger – Mom dances (Direction)

What remains of a mother after years of domestic violence? What remains of her body, her dignity and her strength? Surely words, memory and a few dance steps that can still be passed down.

Synopsis

What remains of a mother after years of domestic violence? What remains of her body, her dignity and her strength? Surely words, memory and a few dance steps that can still be passed down.

This documentary talks about the domestic violence my mother suffered when she was with her partner at the time. By bringing this memory back to life and opening up about my mother's story, it allows me to make her depression tangible, to acknowledge her illness as a direct consequence of the patriarchal violence she experienced, and also to highlight the suffering that affects other childhoods as well.
