TRANSLATION

During the visual identity course, the 2nd year Graphic Design bachelors had to produce a communication project based on a translation. They had to define their own translation system and develop a visual language based on these rules.

SOURCE BOOK

Through a selection of ten books that talk about books, the study looks at the representation of the publishing object. From its materiality, volume and image to its translation into the same medium. The questioning extends firstly to the relationship between dematerialised design on the screen and printed materiality, as well as the volume that the editorial object represents.
Secondly, through a process of digitisation and photocopying, the project explores the aesthetic potential of the photocopying medium. The graphic design, influenced by the characteristics of this medium, is presented as a form of reading, transforming a collection of content into a superimposition of images.
The integration of this content into two juxtaposed posters aims to reinterpret the book in the poster under a third layer. The book is then defined in a new way in the context in which it is displayed.

Historia Itineris

Historia Itineris translates physical museum space into virtual space, reinterpreting the "bugs" created by Google Street View and the codes of curation to delve into the thoughts of an exhibition by a fictional artist, Joseph Knecht.

Collective Memory

From social media profiles to forum posts, from digital transactions to website visits, our online presence leaves traces that all too often go unnoticed. What would happen if we could retrieve this data and translate it into an avatar? By diving into the depths of my digital history, I've gathered together all the information I could find about myself online.

RADIO49D

RADIO49D is a free local radio station based in the town of Renens (Canton of Vaud, Switzerland), originally created for this visual identity project. It was launched in October 2023 at number 49D on the Rue de Lausanne. It broadcasts a wide variety of content freely (often illegally) over the available FM airwaves. Its callsign is HB4DI, but this is nothing more than a usurpation, as the radio's founder never declared its existence to the relevant authorities. RADIO49D transmits over a maximum radius of 100 metres using a Raspberry Pi 4 computer and a ten-centimetre wire. RADIO49D's programming is free and unpredictable, so it generates maps for communicative purposes that it broadcasts by radio to regular listeners using the SSTV (Slow-scan Television) technique. These cards are then translated into radio waves, then retranscribed into images after reception and re-translation. An album acting as a physical archive of RADIO49D has been produced as part of its visual identity. It provides a complete record of the cards sent and received between October 2023 and January 2024.

Eiger Air

Eiger Air is an upcoming event taking place on the slopes of Mount Eiger. You'll be able to see an air show put on by the Patrouille Suisse. The identity of the event focuses on the representation of the visual language of aviation, as well as the translation of the signals made by a "yellow dog" to communicate with the aircraft from the landing strip.

Weather Report

"Weather Report" explores the popular visual codes of weather presentation. Drawing on viewers' familiarity with the patterns, motifs, typographic elements, gestures and staging of presenters, the project offers a graphic reinterpretation in a variety of media. These elements are then transposed onto various printed media such as posters and a calendar, but also in an animation designed to deconstruct and then reassemble these visual components.
