Archigraphiæ. Rationalist Lettering and Architecture in Fascist Rome Letterforms carry messages – in public space, they are powerful propaganda tools. Witness to this fact are the inscriptions placed on display by Emperors to showcase their power across the Roman Empire. During a Summer School at the Swiss Institute in Rome, ECAL MA in Type Design and ISIA Urbino students explored a more recent avatar of this communication tool. During the fascist era in Italy (1922–1943), the rise to power of Benito Mussolini made his revolutionary political party a ruling institution, which had, as its ambition, the creation of an empire modelled on ancient Rome. The visual aesthetic of the Caesars was captured and used by the fascists to position themselves as successors to a glorious tradition. Imagery and photography also played a part in this endeavour, as did architecture and inscription letters. The buildings and monuments of the 1930s frequently display mottos and texts carved in white marble. Latin and Italian were used, and full capitals, in the ancient Roman tradition. While the design of these letters is based on Ancient models, their shapes are definitely modern; sans serif geometric letterforms. In the first instance, Archigraphiæ sought to collect images of inscriptions on monuments, public buildings, graveyards, street plaques in Rome. Then some of those original designs were digitised to reveal their construction, and the ways in which small elements can be capable of turning a neutral geometrical font into a very Italian-style fascist symbol. By mapping this conspicuous feature of fascist propaganda, the Summer School aimed to deconstruct the mechanisms used to promote political ambitions, and to compare this font with other modernist sans serifs of the time. Bobst Graphic 1972–1981 Bobst Graphic, 1972–1981, with a preface by François Rappo, an interview with six important actors and further selected texts, documents, at a distance of 48 years, the hitherto relatively unknown history of a Bobst company division: Bobst Graphic, pioneers in photocomposition. At the beginning of the 1970s, Bobst, a packaging company already far advanced in packaging manufacture, decided to start to sell its photocomposition machines with a view, amongst other things, to improving Swiss typographical quality. It started to manufacture a series of innovative photocomposition machines, patented by their French inventors, Hugonnet and Moyroud. Bobst Graphic products, with their streamlined service and close collaboration with first-rate researchers, soon came to occupy a secure position in photocomposition, now called on to assume the mantle of a hundred-year-old traditional profession. Numerous families of typographical characters were developed, some from scratch, with the help of many of the best graphic artists in the country, some, like Team 77, which boasted international renown. Despite the energy invested in these new inventions, and the signal advantage enjoyed by this division with its considerable in-house talents, the company faced stiff competition internationally, almost exclusively from the United States. Ultimately, financial difficulties obliged the firm to hand over its project to Autologic, an American company. Fuori catalogo / Out of production The Fuori catalogo research project calls into question the way we think about the life cycles of contemporary design objects by shifting focus from a product s birth and lifespan to its “end moment”. The research team led by Anniina Koivu (Head of Master Theory, ECAL) and Rosanna Pavoni (scientific director of Fondazione Studio Museo Vico Magistretti), explored the important yet under-researched topic of why and how products cease to be available on the market by examining the vast body of work left behind by Italian architect and product designer Vico Magistretti (1920–2006). One of the seminal figures in postwar Italian design, he based his work on a close collaboration with manufacturers, creating 334 products and furniture objects. Yet only 65 of these design classics are still in production as of January 2020. Researchers drew on the extensive archives of the Fondazione Vico Magistretti, analysed specialist journals and conducted interviews with manufacturers and many of the original decision-makers investigating the manifold factors underpinning the decision to cease production of twelve Magistretti s iconic creations, here employed as case studies. They are also the focus of a portfolio of new images created by ECAL alumni from the Photography courses. As a Czech designer, Kolektiv is my personal statement of what I consider Czech character in typography to be. The process of designing helped me to shape my own style and apply it to the typeface. Over the course of one week, thirteen students of the newly-launched Master in Photography program at ECAL/ University of Art and Design of Lausanne, Switzerland were invited by Lorenzo Vitturi to explore London. The city s diversity makes it unique as a global capital of the arts, economics, scientific and technological research and developments. 37% of the city s inhabitants were born outsidethe UK, the highest foreign-born population of any city in the world with over 300 languages spoken. London is the contemporary Babel. Each student was assigned a different area of London in orderto engage with, observe and discover the diversity and specificities of various different cultures, contexts and realities. The work presented here is the result of three intensive days of shooting, one night of editing, one day of printing, endingwith a performative presentation during Offprint at Tate Modern, where the images are combined and sequenced in order to reveal a new vision of London. During Offprint, our thirteen students transform into merchants,lowering their prices as the evening approaches to aid in a successful sale, advising their customers not to combine still-lifes with portraits, or not to place studio-lighting next to natural light etc. What does a global city look like? From 21 June (opening reception from 6.30pm) to 15 July, Aesop Oberdorfstrasse, Zurich. The skincare, haircare and body products specialist Aesop chose ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne to design two accessories for its brand : an electric essential oil burner and a washbag. In doing so, Aesop clearly showed it cared for smart and sustainable design. After an in-depth presentation and a visit to the three Aesop shops in Zurich, 17 ECAL graduate students from the MAS in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship started working under the leadership of professor and designer Tomas Kral. At the end of the workshop, a jury made up of some of the brand executives – among them Mandy Cupper, Head of Product, who had made the trip from Melbourne especially – selected some twenty projects that explored materials as varied as wood, cork, natural resins, ceramic, hand-blown glass and textile. In addition to an aesthetic and innovating design, the students brief included sustainability. Through working prototypes, students imagined projects such as a neoprene washbag inspired from the surfing world or a pocket-size foldable washbag, an essential oil burner producing steam reminiscent of Japanese mountains and a completely transparent oil burner revealing its fan blades and its usual bottle of essential oils. All the other projects also have their own distinctive world in which our bodies and minds are invited to travel through our senses of sight, smell and touch. Living in a painting At Corso, a disused nightclub in downtown Renens downtown Renens, 21 students in Bachelor Photography at ECAL/Ecole cantonale d art de Lausanne have created a collective work orchestrated by Maya Rochat. On Thursday June 14, 2018 from 6pm, an immersive and sound installation will reanimate the Corso for the duration of an evening.

8 ECAL graduates won Swiss Design Awards 2018 Big success for ECAL during the Swiss Design Awards 2018 ceremony at Art Basel with 8 graduates awarded on a total of 17 winners. Platform 10 Platform10 is the transformation of a railway and industrial site to a new district entirely dedicated to to culture. The space, some 22,000 square meters, hosts three recognized cultural institutions: the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of the Elysée and the Museum of design and contemporary applied arts, to a few steps from the station, in the centre of Lausanne . In order to complete this major transformation, Platform 10 launched a competition (by invitation) , in which the 2nd year students took part to design coherent propositions of outdoor (urban) furniture for this new public space.

His love for skateboarding as an adolescent inspired his first steps as a photographer, in which he documented his peers and their aesthetics. After finishing high school, Lindstroem moved to Berlin at the age of 19 to study Visual Communication at the University of the Arts. During his studies, he was selected to study at the London College of Communications for a year abroad. Lindstroem started his professional career within the broad context of fashion photography and has developed his directorial and filmmaking work increasingly over the years, balancing editorial, commercial, and personal artistic projects like his 15-minute short film Truth or Dare which documents the narratives sourced from the imaginary minds of a global generation. Lindstroem s vision has been proposed through his work for clients like 032c Magazine, Kenzo, Nike, YSL, Fendi and Louis Vuitton, as well as through his global campaigns for Uniqlo U and Hermès. Elle co-crée avec Eduardo Terrazas l identité visuelle du programme Mexico 68. De 1972 à 1975, elle est Directrice des publications du Comité Olympique mexicain, puis de l Université autonome métropolitaine de Mexico. En 1976, elle fonde sa propre société, où elle édite des livres d art sur la culture mexicaine. Eduardo Terrazas Designer, architecte et artiste, Mexico City Né en 1936 au Mexique, Eduardo Terrazas est designer, architecte, muséographe, urbaniste et artiste. Nommé Directeur du programme Urban Design par le Comité d Organisation des JO de Mexico, il est le co-concepteur du logotype et des éléments de l identité visuelle de Mexico 68. The students were given the opportunity to highlight the material properties while working on table and wall clocks. During their visit to the manufacture near Verona, the students discovered the impressive production plant, which has been recently optimised with the acquisition of new, cutting-edge equipment. With an experience in marble handed down from generation to generation, as a company, Marsotto excels at combining technology and artisans know-how to design ever more innovating and contemporary pieces. Following their trip, the students were given the opportunity to develop their ideas with the Spanish designer Jaime Hayon, who wished to share his inspiration and his very forward-looking vision of design. This creative exchange resulted in the development of several clock projects. Following their trip, the students were given the opportunity to develop their ideas with the Spanish designer Jaime Hayon, who wished to share his inspiration and his very forward-looking vision of design. This creative exchange resulted in the development of several clock projects with distinct shapes and production techniques.

Symposium Eco-monde: horizons nouveaux Can we move from one world to another, from one period of human history to another, and still create forms, produce meaning, sell art, as if nothing had happened? To slip into a new era without taking it into account? Between the countdown of the ecological catastrophe and the new environmental conscience, we are in the process of changing paradigm, and of entering, without always knowing it, often backwards, in an unknown universe, where the political, social, scientific, artistic questions are no longer posed in the same terms. Where was the man ("ecce homo") is imposed today the interdependence of the forms of life ("to like the echo?"). Where Prometheus was unleashed, with his myth of progress and his dogma of development, a new concern arises, still badly understood, that of lasting, of letting live, of abstaining. Where substance reigns, that of products, resources, certainties, a new question now insinuates itself: the atmosphere, a matter of ambiance and resonance, of airy spirits and the bewitchment of things. And where anthropocentrism triumphed for a long time, as an imperial posture, the ground is cracking under the feet of Man, who loses his capital letter, his arrogance, his solitude too. Of this obliged ecological turn of the late modernity, the art and the culture cannot not take account. They must find a new tone, in tune with the perils, the urgencies, but also the humility and the breadth of vision required by these new times. They must explore new themes, which frenetic capitalism and the dramas of history had relegated to the background. Above all, they need to think together things that have been separated for centuries: objects and lives, air and meaning, micro and macro, time and space. It is these vast problems that the symposium will address. It is in this spirit that it will shake up our habits. It is with as much joy as questioning, with freedom as with open dialogue, that it will tackle head on the revolution in progress, and its crucial stakes for the art world - and for the simple fact of creating. We will talk about the Anthropocene, green finance, vital decay, militant slush, the relationship between the environment and the extremities, and many other things. Keeping in mind, in order not to disarm, that it is not a question of defending nature, but rather, today more than ever, of being the nature that defends itself.

Theater, Garden, Bestiary A Materialist History of Exhibitions The history of exhibitions is currently undergoing renewed interest. While today the "medium" of exhibition is a producer of specific discourses, and while it offers new practices a stage on which to emerge, it has also become the nexus of numerous institutional neo-positivisms relating to the ontological designation ‘art . The exhibition, in the search for its reflexive forms (as in the quest for its own modernism) seems to become a genre in its own right. By distancing itself from today s flurry of studies related to curating, this research project will draft a history of exhibitions sourced from a wide corpus reaching beyond the framework of artistic institutions. IMD and ECAL launch partnership,29.01.2018,IMD & ECAL Two of the Vaud region s leading academic institutions join forces to deliver programs on business and design IMD and ECAL, the University of Art and Design Lausanne, have established a partnership agreement and are currently working together on a series of joint initiatives. The two leading academic institutions recently jointly delivered a three-day program on Foundations of Business at IMD for students undertaking ECAL s MAS in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship. The program focused on the major facets of branding and the creation of products and companies. Several other joint initiatives with IMD and ECAL are planned for the current and upcoming semesters. The current line-up of joint programs includes: Foundations of Business This three-day program is led by IMD Professors and is destined for students in ECAL s MAS in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship. Through practical exercises it focuses on familiarizing students with the creation of products and companies as well as the many facets of branding. Coaching IMD Professors provide personalized coaching, advising ECAL students on business projects the students undertake as part of their diploma and with a view to kick-start their careers. MBA Innovation Lab From 23 to 28 April, ECAL students and participants in the IMD MBA program work together on the Debiopharm Inartis Challenge, a competition organized to harness innovation and tackle a societal challenge: to improve the lives of healthcare patients. During the week, the IMD and ECAL students will explore the processes of creating new ideas, insight-gathering, prototyping and pitching. Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP) On the occasion of IMD s signature program, Orchestrating Winning Performance from 25 to 29 June 2018, several graduates from ECAL will participate in discussions in the design thinking stream led by Cyril Bouquet and will focus on what business can learn from the art world. Professor Cyril Bouquet leads IMD s participation in the partnership and focuses on teaching innovation and design thinking notably in the MBA innovation Lab. Professor Stéphane J.G. As her first ECAL project, the collaboration with l Épée 1839 offered a serious challenge: designing a mechanical clock. After visiting the manufacture in Delémont, Margo quickly seized upon the idea of the hot air balloon, which caused a worldwide sensation when it flew for the first time in 1783. Inspired by the aesthetics of the very first hot air balloons, Hot Balloon is an elegant contrast of visible mechanical parts and a metal parts in a variety of finishes and refined decorations. Every component of the mechanical clock is designed to resemble the parts of a hot air balloon: turning the basket winds the movement; the burners serve as the escapement; the flame indicates the hour and minutes; and finally, the envelope (the balloon), with its wide openings, lends the piece an imposing transparent, airy aspect.Hot Balloon_Time Takes Flight: The First Suspended Clock “To fly, float, glide, navigate in the air, traveling from place to place; to surpass oneself, to go further, higher, faster; or, at a leisurely pace, to take the time to have one s head in the clouds. L Épée 1839 has previously included a number of flying objects in its collections, but today it presents the first to have offered mankind the gift of flight: the hot air balloon!” Immediate boarding on the Hot Balloon, the mechanical clock in the form of a hot air balloon created by L Épée 1839. This suspended clock follows the brand s other co-creations – the Vanitas and Arachnophobia wall clocks. Placed simply on a table or suspended from the ceiling as if flying through the air, this kinetic sculpture symbolizes adventure and whimsy while remaining an exceptional mechanical timepiece. An official partner of l École cantonale d art de Lausanne (ECAL), and specifically its Masters program in Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship, L Épée 1839 created this clock on the theme of travel in collaboration with the talented design student Margo Clavier. Inspired by the hot air balloon and all that it represents – adventure, imagination, discovery, ambition, freedom – Margo and L Épée 1839 unveil a mechanical clock with impressive, sometimes floating presence which displays the hours and minutes for eight days. An authentic piece of watchmaking art, Hot Balloon can also be admired from below, just as one might view a hot-air balloon overhead, as is the very first mechanical clock that can be hung from the ceiling. The clock is set and wound in either position through an ingenious system that combines form and function, design and engineering, precision and durability. To set the time, simply turn the wheel-shaped crown located in place of the balloon s burner blast valve. Winding the barrel is less intuitive and rather unexpected: the key is the balloon s basket. Simply turn the basket to power the mechanism. Full of poetry, Hot Balloon comprises 207 components, all produced in-house at the L Épée 1839 manufacture, and finished and assembled by hand by a passionate team. The clock, sometimes placed on a table, sometimes suspended, measures 31 cm in height, and 17 cm in diameter. Hot Balloon was been created in a limited edition of 50 pieces for each model: Palladium, Black and Palladium, Blue and Palladium, Red and Palladium, or Gold

Collaboration with RETROSUPERFUTURE 2018 After a few collaborations with labels specialized in the fashion industry, such as APC or Carhartt, Retrosuperfuture and ECAL have teamed up to celebrate to work again with the students from the Master of Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship. They have worked on surprizing and festive eyewear and sunglasses but also more commercial pieces for the classic collections. Antiquity Savvas Laz The celebration capsule collection I created for RETROSUPERFUTURE trakes us back to antiquity and specifically in ancient Greece. I focused on the iconic and best selling glasses, Ilaria, that inspired me for its feminine and dynamic shape. Taking the laurel crown as a starting point, a symbol of glory in ancient times, I decorated the Ilaria glasses as a reference to women who already used to decorate their outfits, dresses, hands or hair with pieces of jewellery. This symbol of glory is also a perfect way to graphically celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand, as an award for all that has been accomplished. Viadotto Angele Fourteau This project is inspired by the graphical structures and the aerial lines of inconic bridges and viaducts from Italy. I was interested by the idea that those lines support the entire structure and at the same time connect two places exactly like the metallic nose pad in the Panama or Giaguaro SUPER s iconic shapes. For the 10th anniversary of RETROSUPERFUTURE I wanted to develop this idea of a bridge in a literal way through glasses, using graphical lines based on architecture. SUPERvision Naroot Pitisongswat These glasses are a perfect metaphor for the future and the visionary spirit of RETROSUPERFUTURE. Since the beginning I was directly seduced by the brand s innovative aesthetic, that takes inspiration (with a lot of respect) on the past through vintage shapes of classic glasses. This contemporary vision is represented here by an extrusion of the TUTTOLENTE iconic shape that emphasize the character of the brand and celebrates its 10th anniversary - like binoculars that brings you further in the future. MARS Maximilian Maertens For this project I was first inspired by the subtle lines of the TUTTOLENTE collection. The clear lines of the glasses create a naked body without any protection or shell yet very strong and sophisticated. For the 10th anniversary of SUPER, I wanted to design a unique piece that illustrates strength and lightness at the same time: a transparent mask assembled on a metallic helmet in order to show a clear contrast between these two elements, as a celebration of the past and the future.

Summer University CUBA After marking the history of the twentieth century with major episodes, Cuba must confront a new historical turning point. Obama s opening speeches and the death of Fidel Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution of 1959, push the country towards a paradigm shift without priors. Partial liberalisation measures (restaurants, taxis and tourist activities) create an uncertain balance between mass tourism and Communist historical anchorage. The will of the workshop led by Milo Keller (head of photography) and Vincent Jacquier (Head of visual communication) was to rethink the visual relationship that the collective imaginary maintains with Cuba. It was for the students to get out of the tourist cliché, be it the old American car, the colorful colonial houses or the cigar. In partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in Cuba, this week has been punctuated by many cultural visits. Exchanges with institutions such as the Instituto Superio de Arte (ISA) and the Fototeca de Cuba, as well as meetings with photographers who have worked for decades in Cuba as Sven Creutzmann and Vives-Figueroa, allowed an understanding finer Cuban culture, with exchanges around photographic, educational and policy approaches. The architecture has been one of the major themes, whether through visits to buildings of Porro and Gottardi, or even a visit to the Swiss Ambassador s residence, designed by Richard Neutra. With the help of the Embassy of Switzerland, the students were guided by four local photographers: Raul Canibano, Chino Arcos, Gabriel Guerra and Lissette Solórzano and they were able to get in places and invisible to tourists Havana networks. The projects are varied: technology report was addressed by Margaux Piette in a film about the hot spots Wifi scattered through the city. but also in the photos of Ivo Fovanna centered on the package, physical network for the exchange of files hacked; or in the film of Tatiana Mégevand on tourism activities Airbnb and economic change involved. The social characteristics of Cuba themselves in the series Olivia Schenker and Julien Deceroi. The first has made portraits of LGBTQ minority which enjoys a special acceptance on the island. The second makes us discover Santería, majority religion in Cuba of Christian inspiration and Voodoo. Imported cultural trends was put forward by the skaters in the movie of Pierre-Kastriot Jashari and more vernacular aspects are revealed in this series of Vincent Levrat pigeons collected on roofs by the inhabitants of Havana. The eighteen projects of this workshop were presented in the form of a projection at the Fototeca of Cuba on Vendredi8 December, in the presence of the Swiss ambassador, Mr Stutz and local photographers. This workshop was an opportunity of discovery cultural and social, but also a framework that helped improve the autonomy and ambition projectual students.

ECAL – Ten Years in Renens,06.12.2017–16.02.2018,Gallery l elac To celebrate the 10th year anniversary of its arrival in its new building in Renens, ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne presents an exhibition of the best projects created during this period by students from all fields of studies. Under the impulse of Pierre Keller (director from 1995 to 2011), ECAL took up residence in Renens in 2007 in the former premises of the IRIL factory, a building renovated by the Franco-Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and the Fehlmann office in Morges. Ten years later, ECAL presents an exhibition of the best projects created during this period, emblematic of the various disciplines taught between its walls (Art Direction, Fine Arts, Cinema, Industrial and Product Design, Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship, Graphic Design, Media & Interaction Design, Photography, Type Design). Alexis Georgacopoulos, Director of ECAL, and Heads of all Departments have selected nearly 300 projects from the harvest of a rich decade (1456 diplomas, 310 exhibitions, 655 awards, 100 collaborations), staged in a structure shaped as an X, imagined by Adrien Rovero and Béatrice Durandard, both graduates of the Bachelor Industrial Design. This is the perfect opportunity to see works that have contributed to the reputation of ECAL and perpetuated its international renown (5th Dezeen Hot List published late 2016, ranking the best schools of art and architecture in the world). The exhibition offers the opportunity to (re)discover among others: "Delirious Home", featuring a series of objects in a playful interpretation of the "smart home" concept (Award for the best show at the Milan Furniture Fair 2014). A wide selection of films including, award-winning films of the Locarno Film Festival. Many photos, posters and editions that went around the world as part of the exhibitions "ECAL Photography" and "ECAL Graphic Design". Paintings, videos, installations, drawings, attesting of the broad spectrum embraced by fine arts. Collaborations in design (industrial, product & luxury), which have marked the history of ECAL such as Alessi, Baccarat, Bernardaud, Christofle, Felco, Hermès, Hublot, Nespresso, Punkt., Scott or Vacheron Constantin. Various videos of Media & Interaction Design projects, proof of an expanding field of studies. Not to mention a hundred books and publications published by the school. Construire un feu,29.11–14.12.2017,Hall Kudeslki, ECAL Une exposition réalisée par les étudiants en Bachelor et Master Arts Visuels, dans le cadre du cours d atelier suivi par Denis Savary. A partir du titre d une nouvelle de Jack London*, proposer aux étudiants d envisager leur pratique artistique comme une sorte de géographie. Les inciter à explorer cette région à la manière d un trappeur ou d untouriste éclairé afin d élargir et de diversifier leurs champs de connaissance et tenter ainsi de les aider à mieux percevoir les contours nécessairement mouvants de leur territoire. Pour cette exposition, les étudiants ont été invités à envisager leurs productions artistiques comme des feux, des dispositifs d allumages. Ceci afin de tenter de s approcher le plus possible des choses qui les animent. L étincelle étant nécessaire à tout engagement. Le Salon de Compagnie This immersive installation created by Pietro Alberti proposes an innovative way to discover an emblematic room of the musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design in Bordeaux (madd-bordeaux). Thanks to Virtual Reality, the perception of the 15th century s architecture, gildings and furnitures are constantly changing, giving the spectator, a completely new vision of the space and its antic masterpieces. The musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design in Bordeaux (madd-bordeaux) paired with ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne for a collaboration that led to an interactive installation in the museum. Christian Patterson, photographe, New York Mercredi 15 novembre à 18 h, Auditoire IKEA, ECAL Bio (in english) Christian Patterson (b. 1972, Fond du Lac, WI) moved from Brooklyn, New York to Memphis, Tennessee in 2002 to work for photographer William Eggleston. In 2005, Patterson completed his first project, Sound Affects, a collection of color photographs that explore Memphis utilizing light and color as visual analogues to sound and music. In 2008, a Sound Affects monograph was published by Edition Kaune, Sudendorf (Cologne). His second monograph Redheaded Peckerwood was published by MACK in 2011 and was named one of the best books of the year by numerous noted international photography critics, nominated for the 2012 Kraszna-Krausz Book Awards and won the prestigious 2012 Recontres d Arles Author Book Award. The book appeared in The Photobook: A History, Volume 3, co-edited by Gerry Badger and Martin Parr. In 2013, Patterson was awarded a 2013 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, or Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2015, he won the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2015/2016. NOVEMBRE X ECAL At the occasion of Paris Photo 2017, Novembre Magazine & ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne present a performative photography exhibition and a special issue of the magazine. This special issue and this exhibition present a selection of images produced through a period of four years during workshops conducted by Novembre Magazine in the Photography Department of ECAL. Through the eyes of over 60 students,it becomes a kaleidoscopic snapshot of contemporary attitudes towards the body and new definitions of beauty, encouraging a truly interdisciplinary approach to photography.

Design Preis Schweiz Congratulations to Bachelor Industrial Design graduate Jordane Vernet, who won the Rado Star Prize Switzerland for Young Talents at the occasion of Design Preis Schweiz, with her diploma project "Sterilux". Also bravo to Thilo Alex Brunner, MAS in Design for Luxury & Crafstmanship graduate and teacher, who won the Product – Consumer Goods award with his Swiss army knife designed at ECAL and produced by Malvaux. Finally, Lucas Uhlmann, Bachelor Industrial Design graduate, and Thibault Brevet, Bachelor Graphic Design graduate, were part of the team (Etter Studio, Digital Arts Association, Solution, Greenliff), winner of the Spatial category.
