Cuvée Pierre Keller 2025 Event
Cuvée Pierre Keller 2025

Cuvée Pierre Keller 2025,25.09.2025,Saint-Saphorin On Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 5pm, the 7th edition of the limited cuvée "lâche-moi la grappe" will be tasted and sold at the Vinothèque du Château de Glérolles. To honor Pierre Keller s major contribution to the reputation of ECAL and the promotion of Vaud wines, we are pleased to invite you to the launch (tasting and sale) of the 7th edition of the limited cuvée “Lâche-moi la grappe” on Thursday, 25 September 2025 from 5 pm at the Vinothèque of Château de Glérolles. Based in Lavaux, where he chose to live surrounded by the calm of the vineyards, Pierre Keller often collaborated with the Frères Dubois, particularly through their work with the Office des vins vaudois. They discovered in him a man who could be both brilliant and incisive when defending Vaud wines, and joyful and festive when sharing them. This blend of rigor and generosity, qualities also essential to the work of winemakers, resonates deeply in this 7th cuvée entrusted to this emblematic Lavaux estate. It stands both as a tribute and an invitation to celebrate these values. Proceeds from the sale will contribute to the Pierre Keller Prize, awarded to an ECAL diploma project of outstanding commitment.DATES & SCHEDULESThursday 25 September 2025 – 5pm Free entry with registrationWEBSITEwww.vaudvins.chTICKETSRegister until 22 SeptemberVENUEVinothèque du Château de Glérolles Rte du Lac 27 1071 Saint-Saphorin CFF Stop : Rivaz Please use public transport: limited parking available.

EXHIBITION OF THE PRIX IMAGES VEVEY X ECAL: LEA SBLANDANO Event
EXHIBITION OF THE PRIX IMAGES VEVEY X ECAL: LEA SBLANDANO

EXHIBITION OF THE PRIX IMAGES VEVEY X ECAL: LEA SBLANDANO,24.09–21.12.2025,L Appartement – Espace Images Vevey From 24 September to 21 December 2025, as part of L Appartement – Espace Images Vevey, Lea Sblandano, winner of the Prix Images Vevey x ECAL 2024, presents Neijuan, her Bachelor Photography project. The Images Vevey × ECAL Prize was created in 2021 to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions. Each year, it offers a graduate from ECAL s Bachelor or Master Photography programme a first solo exhibition opportunity. The awarded project is presented as a monographic exhibition by Images Vevey, either during its biennale or in its permanent space. Winner of the Images Vevey × ECAL Prize 2024, presents Neijuan, a project developed during her Bachelor in Photography at ECAL. “Neijuan,” a Mandarin slang word meaning “involution,” refers to a withdrawal into oneself, a symptom of an increasingly fast and competitive society. Through a documentary and collaborative approach, the artist follows a group of people she met online in forums, video games and chat platforms, where new identities emerge outside the norms of the physical world. The exhibition unfolds across three spaces: The Corridor, a threshold between the real and the virtual, combining portraits and urban landscapes. The Living Room, where the Neijuan book mock-up revisits key images of her research, oscillating between avatars, Asian megacities and reflections on the sexualisation of bodies. The Cinema, an immersive installation of nine screens showing videos, webcams and avatars, centred on Kei, a virtual roommate living in Japan. This work blurs the boundaries between real and virtual, questioning connected solitude, fragmented identities and the transformation of intimate spaces.DATES & SCHEDULE24.09–21.12.2025 2 pm–6 pm Wednesday to Sunday Free entryVENUEL Appartement – Espace Images Vevey Gare CFF de Vevey Hall principal (2e étage)OPENINGWednesday, September 24, 2025, 6 pmWEBSITEimages.chGUIDED TOUROctober 9, November 6, December 4, 2025

Two ECAL photographers honoured with the Dior Prize for Photography 2025 Article
Two ECAL photographers honoured with the Dior Prize for Photography 2025

Two ECAL photographers honoured with the Dior Prize for Photography 2025 Sara de Brito Faustino and Aline Savioz, respectively a graduate and student of the Bachelor s programme in Photography at ECAL, are among the winners of the 2025 edition of the prestigious Dior Prize for Photography and Visual Arts for Young Talents. Organised by Dior in collaboration with LUMA Arles and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (ENSP), this prestigious award celebrates the next generation of international contemporary photographers. Since its creation in 2018, the Prix Dior has supported the unique perspectives of young artists from leading art and photography schools around the world. Following a rigorous selection process, the ten winners are invited to produce a new work based on the theme ‘Face-to-Face . The winners works, including those by Sara De Brito Faustino and Aline Savioz, are presented in a group exhibition at LUMA Arles as part of the Rencontres de la Photographie until 5 October 2025. This exceptional visibility allows these young talents to engage with an international audience of contemporary photography enthusiasts. Exhibition From 5 July to 5 October 2025 La Lampisterie, Luma Arles prix-dior.luma.orgAlien Love Call by Aline Savioz Created in 2024, Alien Love Call draws inspiration from romantic ideals and the collective imagination shaped by 1950s cinema, 1970s design and popular culture codes, particularly those of science fiction. This project is set in a fictional and fantastical universe, where fulfilment and lightness intertwine. Composed of six images staged and shot in medium format film, the series brings to life a retro-futuristic fiction, telling a love story between two aliens. It explores nostalgia for the future, that paradoxical feeling of attachment to a time we have never known, when we projected an idealised future. Alien Love Call evokes this unique melancholy and creates a visual refuge where romance blossoms in a setting from another time, both familiar and unreal. Through the images, we follow the protagonists in the moments leading up to their meeting, until their rendezvous at the Jazz Club, animated by a caricatured trumpet player in a cinematic atmosphere. @saviozalA Home With No Roof by Sara De Brito Faustino The place where I grew up was a mixture of strangeness and familiarity. It should have been a refuge, but it was the scene of painful moments. Uncomfortable and dysfunctional, it bears the traces of traumas that I can hardly remember, except for deep scars. The only remnants are in the decor of my current flat. This project stems from that, using 1:15 scale models of my house to explore this history in a new light. By reconstructing the space in miniature, I am able to confront it with distance. These scenes become a dialogue with my traumas. The confrontation takes place through reduced objects, body sculptures and plays on scale. My flat becomes a hybrid place, somewhere between shelter and threat. The images convey the identity of a young girl in the making, growing up in imbalance. By deconstructing and reconstructing, bodies become objects, and vice versa. I am both subject and object in this space, confronting what has shaped me. Photography becomes catharsis, bringing me closer to a blurred past. A Home With No Roof questions what it means to face one s history: a silent dialogue to reconcile the intimate. The series is a face-to-face encounter with my traumas, allowing me to become a healthy adult. @colddaily

The Indecisive Moment Project
The Indecisive Moment

The Indecisive Moment This exhibition presents the outcome of a five-day workshop led by artist Jaya Pelupessy, where students explored the unstable terrain between creation and reproduction. Through hands-on experiments with various duplication methods and strategies of appropriation, the workshop invited a reconsideration of the image—not as a final product, but as a process, a question, a site of continuous transformation. Embracing moments of uncertainty, trial and error, and unexpected discovery, participants focused on what Pelupessy calls The Indecisive Moment: the in-between phase where outcomes are unclear and intention is disrupted by chance. These works reflect a shift from the pursuit of fixed meaning toward an image in flux—unfinished, open, and relational.

She has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Johannes Vermeer Prijs (2020), the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography (2017), SPECTRUM – International Prize for Photography of Stiftung Niedersachsen (2017), and The Citibank Private Bank Photography Prize (1999). VISIONS DU RÉEL: MASTERCLASS & ECAL FILMS Event
VISIONS DU RÉEL: MASTERCLASS & ECAL FILMS

VISIONS DU RÉEL: MASTERCLASS & ECAL FILMS,04–13.04.2025,Nyon As guest of honour at the 56th edition of the Visions du Réel festival in Nyon, filmmaker Raoul Peck will be giving a masterclass on Tuesday 8 April, organised in partnership with the Cinémathèque suisse. The programme also includes five films by the ECAL s Cinema Department and alumni. MASTERCLASS: RAOUL PECK Filmmaker, Haiti Born in Haiti in 1953, and raised in Congo, New York, France and Germany, Raoul Peck is one of the most important filmmakers of the late 20th and early 21st century. Over the course of the last forty years, the filmmaker has anchored his complex body of work, which includes internationally acclaimed feature films and documentaries, in a deep political commitment. The genesis of his cinematographic tales stems in equal measure from his multicultural personal experience, his journey as an activist, and what he refers to as a “Marxist reading” of the global economy. An indefatigable narrator of tales as seen from the viewpoint of those subject to domination, Raoul Peck has also questioned the links to capitalism in his own personal history, haunted by the ghosts of colonialism. His films examine omissions from official Western history, shining a light on aspects ignored by this account, often sketching a portrait of politicians or artists who have openly deconstructed it, such as Patrice Lumumba in Lumumba, La Mort du prophète, a feature film released in 1990, followed bythedocumentary Lumumba (2000), James Baldwin in I Am Not Your Negro (2016), and, most recently, Ernest Cole with Ernest Cole: Lost and Found (2024). Summoning the past to examine the present and rejecting any call to neutrality, Raoul Peck s work is a reinvention of activist cinema, which he transforms using a cinematographic, poetic and highly subjective language, freely intermingling genres and formats. Exterminate All The Brutes, a hybrid series in four parts (produced by HBO) – which will also be screened during the Festival – is a perfect example of this: it is a journey back in time, a radical re-examination of the history of European colonialism, from America to Africa, using personal, visual and literary narration to starkly revisit the darkest hours in human history right up to the present day. It won a Peabody Award in 2022, and was also the subject of a critical and literary essay. An event in collaboration with the Cinémathèque suisse. Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025 ECAL x Ceramaret

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025 ECAL x Ceramaret At the invitation of Watches and Wonders Geneva, ECAL will present a brand-new project in partnership with Ceramaret, a leading Swiss company in the manufacture and high-precision machining of technical ceramics. To mark the occasion, a selection of five jewellery and bracelet designs will be on display at the LAB, a venue dedicated to innovation and design. Thanks to this first collaboration with the Neuchâtel-based manufacturer, students in MAS Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship got to discover a state-of-the-art machine park. Renowned for developing and producing components for the luxury watchmaking industry, Ceramaret s teams contributed their expertise to this ambitious research. Combining innovation with creativity, the project brings together the know-how of specialised engineers in materials science and the boundless inventiveness of an up-and-coming generation of designers. Following the presentation of the students 15 concepts, five designs were selected and prototyped in technical ceramics, using additive technologies – a 3D printing process that provides the possibility to create intricate, previously unimaginable shapes. This collection, including bracelets inspired by fine watchmaking and innovative jewellery designs, draws its inspiration as much from the beauty of organic forms as from the complexity of systems derived from engineering. Designed in CH Made in JP Project
Designed in CH Made in JP

Designed in CH Made in JP Designed in CH, Made in JP is a collaborative project between ECAL Master Product Design, Karimoku New Standard, and Presence Switzerland. From 13 April to 13 October 2025, representatives from countries across the globe will gather to showcase innovation, culture, and sustainability at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan. For Switzerland s pavilion, MA Product Design students at ECAL were tasked with designing a stackable wooden chair to be produced in Japan by Karimoku New Standard, intended to furnish the lightweight, bubble-inspired architecture by Manuel Herz. Under the guidance of Augustin Scott de Martinville, the class developed ten chair designs, each offering a distinct perspective. Some draw inspiration from the pavilion s scenography, while others explore cultural iconography or celebrate the symbiosis between two nations—each unique in heritage yet united by shared values of craftsmanship and innovation. Of the ten designs, one was selected to be produced for the pavilion: HUG, designed by Jacob Kouthoofd Martensson and Min Xiyao, is a circular chair that stacks inversely—a feature that not only informs its name but also visually embodies the essence of collaboration. This versatile design accommodates a range of uses, from conferences to general pavilion seating. The final chair will be unveiled both in Osaka in the Swiss Pavilion at the World Expo 2025, and during Milan Design Week 2025, with the full project exhibited at the House of Switzerland. Soft Photography Project
Soft Photography

Soft Photography Soft Photography is a research project conducted by the Master of Photography at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne with the support of the HES-SO. It aims to shed light on the role of human emotions in the creation and reception of images produced using generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) or computer-generated imagery (CGI). Carried out from September 2025 to Spring 2026, this research aims to examine an unthought-of aspect of generative AI and CGI: the significance of human emotions, both in the creation of these tools (database annotation, software programming, cultural bias) and in the perception of the produced images (empathy, visual culture, subconsciousness) or their uses (capitalism of emotion, soft power, self-representation, political propaganda). The discussion and research surrounding the exponential development of AI technologies in visual culture often overlook this emotional component, even though it is structurally linked to these technologies, as they necessarily involve human apprehension. Unlike automated images, which frequently have an operational function and are only ‘seen by machines, images generated by AI and CGI are essentially created for humans, whether for social networks, advertising, industry, politics, or the artistic field. Soft Photography aims to examine the role and function of emotions by analyzing these new photographic tools and looking at specific occurrences, such as memories reconstructed in CGI or AI. Far from strictly formal experimentation, these practices demonstrate the complex entanglement between emotion, subjectivity, technical processes, and vulnerability. The project, therefore, aims to map, analyze, and experiment with the place of emotions within these new practices. Parasonic: Transmission of fugitive aural practices Project
Parasonic: Transmission of fugitive aural practices

Parasonic: Transmission of fugitive aural practices Parasonic is a research project on the social and racial constructions of aural practices, based on a critique of a regime of thinking and listening to sound that is over-represented in the arts, and which aims to create spaces for the transmission of fugitive aural practices. Parasonic is a research project on the social and racial constructions of aural practices, based on a critique of a regime of thinking and listening to sound that is over-represented in the arts, and which aims to create spaces for the transmission of fugitive aural practices. It is part of contemporary studies on the cultural history of perceptions and works alongside researchers who have been deconstructing racializing practices and politics of perception for a century (in particular Du Bois, 1920; Fanon, 1949; Baldwin, 1955; Morrison, 1992; Glissant, 1990; Gilroy, 1995; hooks, 1997; Hartman, 1997; Haraway, 1997; Wynter, 2003; Ahmed, 2007; Harney and Moten, 2022; Campt, 2017, 2023). The project articulates two levels of discussion: a substantive level based on theoretical debates on the notion of ‘white aurality . And an operational level based on the audio-visual editing of filmed artists stories of listening and their public played in spaces for the transmission of practical knowledge. Two levels of goals are therefore also articulated: to gain knowledge and self-critical awareness about the relationship between racialization and listening practices; and to create pieces designed as tools to transmit listenings what the regime of white aurality does not hear: ways of listening that escape it, or that ignore it, or that oppose it (hence the term para-sonic). The Picture-Writer. Warja Lavater, Graphic Designer and Illustrator Project
The Picture-Writer. Warja Lavater, Graphic Designer and Illustrator

The Picture-Writer. Warja Lavater, Graphic Designer and Illustrator This project investigates the work of the graphic designer and artist, Warja Lavater, an internationally recognised Swiss graphic designer, illustrator, bookmaker, filmmaker and artist. Amongst Warja Lavater s (Winterthur, 28 September 1913 – Zurich, 3 May 2007) most famous designs is the three-key logo for the Swiss bank UBS, which the bank – then named Schweizerischen Bankverein – began using in 1938. Yet Lavater is far much more than these three keys. Although the emblem is known the world over and her work was appreciated internationally during her career, recognition in Switzerland came late, overshadowed notably by her more well-known husband, the designer and artist Gottfried Honegger. For instance, it was only in the 1990s that the Canton Zurich awarded her the art prize for her lifetime work.  The scholarship on her work has accordingly been sparse; the present research corrects this gap. During her extensive career, Lavater created posters, logos, packaging, illustrations, installations for exhibitions and artworks. She is especially known for her many experimental artist books and what she called “folded stories”, a series of leporellos (accordion-style publications) adapting familiar tales as well as new stories in a pictorial manner. These books used a formal vocabulary based on a drawing system devised by the designer, which translated complex stories into symbols and signs. To describe her work on these publications, the designer coined the term Bildstellerin, a portmanteau which translates as “picture-writer”. By documenting her oeuvre, the research is not only going to improve the scholarship on a designer, but also more widely contribute to the historiography on female graphic designers in the 20th century, whose contributions remain largely understudied and overshadowed by their male counterparts. The research also contributes to a lesser-known side of Swiss graphic design history by providing scholarship on a designer working outside the canon of the Swiss Style. The results are presented in a richly illustrated publication which makes available previously unpublished visual material and represents the first academic monograph on the designer. Heat Pumps for Viessmann Project
Heat Pumps for Viessmann

Heat Pumps for Viessmann Heat pumps are energy-efficient household climate systems essential for transitioning to renewable energy and combating climate change. Typically installed outside close-by to buildings, they are becoming common visual elements in urban landscapes, often resembling air conditioners with limited design variety across brands. To reimagine these essential typologies, Viessmann, a world leading Heat Pump producer, invited MA Product Design students from ECAL to develop innovative concepts, resulting in designs that challenge norms and explore new visual identities of heat pumps. Founded in 1917 as a heating technology manufacturer, today Viessmann Climate Solutions is a leading global provider of sustainable climate (heating, cooling, water and air quality) and renewable energy solutions. The Integrated Viessmann Climate Solutions portfolio seamlessly connects products and systems via digital platforms and services, creating an individualized feel-good climate for users. Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions that matter for people and our planet for generations to come.
