My graduation project consisted of editing Coline Confort’s short documentary “Impériale” and writing a dissertation addressing the manipulation and ethics of documentary editing. “Impériale” is a short documentary film that tells the story of Eva, a young girl who has to dress up as a man in order to live her imperial dream of joining the cavalry of Napoleon Bonaparte’s Grande Armée. This work led me to better understand the specificities of documentary film writing, as well as the confrontation we might have with our imagination and reality.
