Realtime Narrative – 2026

Realtime Narrative – 2026

During the Realtime Narratives course, second-year students had to create a real-time narrative experience using Unreal Engine software.
The aim of the project was to raise students awareness of the use of 3D realtime engines and the various links with other software specific to each stage of development.

Cublo's journey

Cublo is a small, cube-shaped character who dreams of leaving his isolated world to join the Rondis, which he imagines as richer and more promising. Throughout his journey, he seeks to fit in and find his place. But upon arriving with the Rondis, he is rejected because of his difference. His story highlights exclusion, intolerance, and the difficulty of being accepted in a society that refuses otherness.

A whimsical scene with cube-shaped characters with eyes and legs, one near a campfire, others by a tent in a forest clearing, with text: "Watch out, don't get burned."
A small, empty wooden boat with a cube featuring a face and a red flower on top, floats on a calm blue lake. Misty trees and mountains are reflected in the tranquil water.
A whimsical village scene with charming houses featuring red roofs. Cartoonish white characters with simple faces stand on lush green grass. Text reads, "WE NEED HELP." The atmosphere is playful yet slightly concerned.
A guillotine silhouetted against a bright sky, surrounded by a grassy field with wildflowers. Red petals float gently in the air, creating a serene yet somber tone.

Iteration Protocol

Iteration Protocol is a game that explores the theme of obsolescence through mechanics inspired by reinforcement learning. While artificial intelligence improves by iterating on the same task and learning from previous attempts, the game reverses this logic by placing the player in control of multiple characters forced to repeat the same actions. Each character exists within a system shaped by the actions of the previous ones, making certain solutions possible only because of earlier failures or partial progress. Progression relies on trying, failing, and starting again with a new character, turning repetition, accumulation, and disposability into central elements of the gameplay experience.

Betaverse – 2026

with Mario Von Rickenbach

This project brings together a series of experiments created by students exploring the intersection between physical reality and immaterial imaginary worlds. Using a mixed reality headset, they transform their environment into experimental spaces where real elements become supports for digital creations.

Aryana Noorani – Check-out / Check-in

with Pauline Saglio, Christophe Guignard, Alain Bellet, Gaël Hugo, Laura Nieder, Lara Défayes

In this point-and-click game, players take on the role of a maid on her first day in a luxury hotel. Each level consists of a messy room left behind by guests. The  player must remember the list of tasks and complete them in the correct order to restore the room. The gameplay relies on simple, repetitive actions, where order and memory are key, with no room for error in such meticulous surroundings. Through repetition, the actions become mechanical, but the slightest mistake forces the player to start over. Guided by the overbearing voice of a manager, the experience combines curiosity, frustration and a quiet sense of absurdity in a simple game loop.

Dynamic Identity - 2026

with Angelo Benedetto

First-year students designed visual identities for fictional museums. As part of the Dynamic Display course led by Angelo Benedetto, this project led them to create graphic universes that that express the character of each imaginary exhibition site.

Iris Moine – Twist

with Alain Bellet, Christophe Guignard, Gaël Hugo, Laura Nieder, Pauline Saglio

Twist was thought out as part of the upcoming industrial design exhibition at mudac - Musée cantonal de design et d’arts appliqués contemporains. The aim of this project is to engage children’s curiosity about design, for whom the idea of visiting a museum is often not the most exciting. How can we encourage a stimulating visit and discovery of the exhibits? By bringing out an object from the exhibition, the Bold chair by Big-Game studio, this project transforms it into an interactive installation. Guided by a character on screen, children are invited to interact with certain parts of the chair: sitting, pinching, turning, etc. These interactions trigger games, and information is presented in a playful way, thus creating a direct and memorable relationship with the object and raising awareness of design.

Mathias Liniger – Just a game?

with Pauline Saglio, Christophe Guignard, Alain Bellet, Gaël Hugo, Laura Nieder, Lara Défayes

Just a game? is an interactive project that explores how war video games contribute to the trivialization of violence through their game design. Why are weapons perceived as desirable objects? How do customization, visual and sound effects make the act of killing satisfying? What remains of a body after death in a video game?  And what does this say about our relationship to violence? In these games, nothing is left to chance: pleasure, oblivion, hostility — it's all a question of design. Through a series of classic combat scenes, this immersive documentary invites viewers to observe, question and understand the systems that transform war into a playful experience.
